How to build a mechanism to lay the mast
Because of the planned adventure – that will also take place on rivers with some lower bridges – we decided to install a system to lay the mast while the boat sails. We found some tips and tricks around the internet with pictures and the needed mathmatical know how explained in an understandable way
So here are some links to cheap solutions:

We found a name for her!
The sailing vessel will be called: „Miss Waikiki“. A 16 feet tall sloop built in Sweden in 1978.
In spring 2010 we start our journey through Europe. Beginning in the North – the Baltic Sea with further destinations: Spain, France, Italy, Greece.
This blog will be used to document the preparations, the journey itself and some thoughts and ideas connected to it.
Have fun!
The Crew
We are owners of a Sailing Ship!
Today we bought our new ship – currently nameless. A swedish sailing ship: a “ Stor Triss Mark II“. We fetched here from a small village near Eckernförde, Germany. The first look at her was very impressive – we didn’t thought that she will be in such good shape. A few details have to be fixed. But nevertheless it was a hot deal at the Bay
We got her including a new trailer and a – as good as new – four-stroke outboarder with 5hp. The Sails are also in good condition: The Main Sail and a regular foresail are the basic Sails including the whole offer. Eventually we will upgrade the rig with a Genau-Sail to increase the speed on days with less wind.
The only thing to do this winter is to refit the rudder blade. The wood got wet because of the flaked painting. No big deal at all. But to rescue the blade: inevitable to do it.
For cosmetical issues and reasons of comfort we donate her some new cushions and synthetic leather decorations for the cabin.
Thank god there was no mould found during our first intense cleaning. The hull has no leakage, the windows and the bulkhead is leakproof.
The shrouds were renewed in 2008 so the standing rigging is ready for the journey. The running rigging also looks good. Only a few additional ropes have to be bought to ensure safety.
Some pictures will follow!
